  What about those INTELLIGENT JW's? Did you have any in your cong'?

  i remember as a child being impressed by several older 'brothers' who were well educated and articulate.

  we had guys with degrees and one had a ph.d in some branch of physics - a professor.

  now you know as well as i do that that level of education was, and still is, mightily discouraged by the wt but these guys had managed it somehow.. as an impressionable kid it put 'the truth' on a more secure footing for me, after all if these intelligent men could believe .

  from the canadian supreme court's website, the court will hear a pivitol blood case whether a jehovah's witness teenager should be forced to have a blood transfusion.

  this important case will most likely set the tone of the canadian government stand on a minor's right to refuse medically recommended life-saving treatment.. skeeter.

  How many on this board has had to have one? If you did were you still a member in good standing? If you were now faced with a situation would you have one for you or your wife and kids? About 6 years ago while traveling in Spain I had to have an emergency operation I had to have a blood transfusion, although I was never asked if I wanted one or even know before hand, it saved my life. When asked by my JW family if I had to have one I said yes or else I wouldn't be here today.

  Demonised Smurf Doll

  is anyone out there familiar with the now almost legendery jw "true" story about the demon possessed smurf doll that got up and stormed out of the watchtower study screaming "that's a load of crap" in response to an answer to a question being given by a brother concerning the final destruction of satan?

  I have a confession to make, back in 1989 I was high on PCP I dressed up in blue and painted my body in blue paint I wanted to be blue boy but when I ran down to the local kingdumb hall I was yelling at the speaker and they all thought I was a demon smurf, sorry it was me!

  Preparing for Armageddon

  when i was a kid i can remember really being scared that armageddon was coming, you know the crap about it's almost here, and i would never live to see high school and all my classmates would be killed by jemima, i used to have nightmares when i was a kid over this.

  i know of some family and friends who have since left the org, some have told me stories of how their family would prepare for armageddon, like keeping food and extra copies of watchterror and awacks, and have some kind of rehearsal for the end, some sounds like those old 1950's movietone shorts about preparing for the a bomb, did you or your family do anything weird to prepare for armageddon?

  Yeah I'm not talking about having a Emergency kit, heck even I have one in case of Earthquake, Water, food, first aid kit, candles, etc. but I'v heard of families who practiced for when the Big A would hit, I also remember them talking about putting away cash and silver to use to pay off the evil worldly people who might come and take your kids away. I just remember as a kid it was talked about soo often that armageddon was just right around the corner and to be prepared for it and every night that you fell asleep you may be awaken in the middle of the night and the world would be over.

  If I wasn't raised a JW, and didn't know anything about it I would have to say no, I don't trust anyone who knocks on my door, calls me on the phone (telemarking) or approches me walking out of the store. I wouldn't even let them get a few words in, I usually say NO THANK YOU!

  I thought you were suppose to stand up for you faith in the last hours? Oh man I remember here in LA when we had the NightStalker going around killing people, they were talking that the end was starting and thats the way it would start, that he was going to have a bunch of followers
